The 10 Best Banks for a Business Account in Tbilisi

Updated 19 firms evaluated10 listedServing all of Georgia

Any Georgian bank can refuse a foreign-owned company without telling you why, and several do. We checked 19 banks and account-opening agents working in Georgia against their own published tariffs, business pages and app listings, then kept the ten a foreign founder can realistically use. The ranking weighs foreigner acceptance, English business banking and what the account costs to run once it is open. How we rank

Rank 01

Tbilisi Expat

Best for expats

Expat setup firm that prepares the file and walks you into the branch.

5.023 reviewsUpdated
Why they’re on this list
  • Publishes a flat 800 GEL for business account opening, around 300 USD plus VAT, and discounts it when bought alongside a registration package
  • Routes applications to Bank of Georgia, TBC, Basisbank or Credo depending on the business, rather than sending every client to the same branch
  • Prepares and translates the documents in one business day, then attends the branch appointment and handles the conversation in Georgian
  • Advertises same-day approval of a multi-currency account once you are in front of the banker, with the account live the same visit
  • Registers the Individual Entrepreneur or LLC and provides the legal address too, so the entity the bank sees is one their own team built
Rank 02

Bank of Georgia

Best for online opening

The default corporate account, and the one you can start online.

3.025 reviewsUpdated
Why they’re on this list
  • Company accounts can be started online free of charge, with a six-month business package covering the business card, internet bank and mobile bank
  • One corporate account holds GEL, USD, EUR and GBP, with conversion between currencies handled inside the business internet bank
  • Separate Bank of Georgia Business app and a dedicated business internet bank, so payments and statements do not go through the retail channel
  • Reported network of about 272 service centres and over 900 ATMs in 2025, which matters if the business handles cash
  • Screening is thorough, and applications commonly draw questions about source of funds, tax residency and your actual economic link to Georgia
Rank 03

TBC Bank

Best business app

Registers the company and opens the account in one branch visit.

3.497 reviewsUpdated
Why they’re on this list
  • Runs business registration inside the branch at close to 20 Tbilisi locations, so sole trader or company registration and the account happen in one sitting
  • The service is open to people who are not yet TBC customers, which is unusual for a bank of this size
  • TBC Business is a separate company app showing card, account, loan, deposit and guarantee balances together, with transfers and currency conversion
  • Non-residents complete an online pre-registration before the appointment, but the branch visit itself is still required
  • Business card service is published at 150 GEL a year, dropping to 75 GEL for companies registered less than six months ago
Rank 04

Liberty Bank

Remote business account registration across the widest branch network.

3.123 reviewsUpdated
  • Business accounts can be registered remotely through libertybusiness.ge in a few minutes, without a branch visit
  • Published corporate tariff shows free account opening, free statements, free internet banking and free cash deposits and withdrawals
  • Corporate accounts available in GEL, USD, EUR and GBP

  • International USD and EUR transfers priced at 0.20 percent with a 15 USD minimum, published rather than quoted
Rank 05

What a business account actually costs

Opening is the cheap part. Liberty and Terabank publish free account opening for companies, Bank of Georgia starts business accounts online at no charge, and Cartu lists 10 GEL to open with 10 GEL a year to maintain. The recurring costs are what you should compare: monthly maintenance around 5 to 15 GEL, a business card at 75 to 150 GEL a year, and packaged plans at 30 to 100 GEL a month if you take one.

The line item that decides which bank is right is the international transfer. Most Georgian banks price outgoing wires at 0.20 to 0.25 percent with a minimum of roughly 15 to 30 USD. If you send four payments a month, that difference is worth more than every card fee combined.

How to choose

Start with where your money comes from

Banks in Georgia screen on the origin of funds far harder than on the size of them. Income from EU or US clients with contracts and invoices is straightforward almost anywhere. Payments routed through payment processors, crypto history, or counterparties in sanctioned jurisdictions narrow your options to two or three banks and add weeks.

Then check the app, in English

You will spend more time in the business app than in any branch. TBC Business and the Bank of Georgia Business app are the two mature options. Credo publishes MyCredo Business in English on both stores. If a bank cannot show you an English business interface before you sign, assume you will be translating screens for the next three years.

Then check the branch count

If you invoice foreign clients and never touch cash, branch coverage is irrelevant. If you run a shop, a cafe or a regional operation, Liberty's 181 service centres and Bank of Georgia's roughly 272 change the maths.

Red flags

  • Anyone guaranteeing approval. No agent controls a compliance decision, and the honest ones say so.
  • A promise of a fully remote opening without a power of attorney. Outside Liberty's own portal, this is not how it works.
  • Being told to describe your business vaguely at the desk. Misrepresenting activity is how accounts get frozen six months later.
  • An agent who only ever uses one bank. That is their relationship, not your fit.
  • No written list of documents before you pay.

When you do not need to pay for this

If you already hold a Georgian residence card and a local phone number, your company is registered, your income comes from named clients under written contracts, and you have a free morning, book the appointment and go. Bank of Georgia and TBC both handle English-speaking directors daily, and the visit runs 30 to 40 minutes with a complete file.

Pay for help when the case is not plain. A non-resident director with no Georgian address, income from a high-risk jurisdiction, a crypto trail, or a flight home in three days is exactly the profile that gets a polite refusal and no explanation. In that situation the fee buys the second attempt you would otherwise have to fly back for.

Frequently asked

Opening is usually free or close to it. Liberty and Terabank publish free account opening for companies, Bank of Georgia opens business accounts online at no charge, and Cartu lists 10 GEL to open plus 10 GEL a year to maintain. Running costs are where the money is, roughly 5 to 15 GEL a month in maintenance, 75 to 150 GEL a year for a business card, and 30 to 100 GEL a month if you take a packaged plan like ProCredit's. International wires typically cost 0.20 to 0.25 percent with a minimum of about 15 to 30 USD. Tariffs change often, so read the bank's own fee page before you sign.
